Ringi Chakma, Miss India Tripura 2017 passed away at the age of 28. The former winner of Miss India Tripura battled cancer for two years but eventually succumbed to the disease. She has been fighting cancer since 2022. Ringi was initially diagnosed with a malignant leaf tumor (breast cancer) and underwent surgery. However, the cancer spread to her lungs and head, resulting in a brain tumor. Her condition later worsened and she could no longer tolerate chemotherapy, Femina said in a report.
According to reports, Rinki Chakma was admitted to Max Saket Hospital in critical condition on February 22. She was on a ventilator in the intensive care unit because one of her lungs was almost non-functioning. Last month, the former Miss India Tripura shared a post on Instagram asking people to donate money for her treatment. In the post, she detailed her cancer journey and explained that she was previously hesitant to share her health struggles on social media.
However, Ringi explained that she and her family now need financial support for cancer treatment. She wrote: “I just wanted everyone to know that my family and I are going through a difficult time and the regular hospital stays and visits over the past two years have not been easy. I am currently accepting donations because we are exhausted. All of our savings go towards my treatment over the past two years. Telling everyone what I’m going through makes me feel better. I thought it made sense.”
Meanwhile, Rinki Chakma was crowned Miss India Tripura 2017. As a Miss India finalist, Rinkee won two runner-up titles: Miss Congeniality and Beauty with a Purpose. Manushi Chhillar won Miss World and Miss India World in the same year.
