Gujarat University namaz row: Students from different countries were attacked by a mob on Saturday night for praying in the hostel of Gujarat University.
Police arrested three more people on Monday for allegedly attacking several international students on the Gujarat University hostel premises and offering them catfish near the hostel block, the crime branch said.
The city crime branch on Sunday arrested two people, identified as Hitesh Madhava and Bharat Patel, and handed them over to Gujarat University Police Station for further legal action.
Three more people arrested
On Monday, the crime branch arrested three more people namely Kshitij Pandey (22), Jitendra Patel (31) and Sahil Dudhatiya (21), all residents of Ahmedabad, and handed them over to the local police for further investigation. was investigated. According to the information, five suspects have been arrested so far.

Students from different countries were attacked by a group for offering prayers in a hostel of Gujarat University on Saturday night, police said.
Earlier, police said two students — one from Sri Lanka and one from Tajikistan — were hospitalized after the incident at the A Block hostel.
Following the incident, Sections 20-25 of the Indian Penal Code. on the basis of paragraphs, proceedings were initiated against unknown persons for disorderly conduct, unlawful assembly, voluntary injury, property damage and trespassing.
police commissioner G.S. Malik, who reached the spot after the incident, said that nine teams have been formed to investigate the incident.
Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi also met the police officials on Sunday and asked them to take decisive and judicial action in this regard.
Assaulting and hurling stones
Gujarat University namaz row: “Some 20-25 people entered the hostel premises (on Saturday night) and objected to the international students offering namaz there, asking them to do so in a mosque. They argued over the issue, assaulting them and hurling stones. They also vandalised their rooms,” Malik said earlier.
Ahmedabad-based Gujarat University has about 300 international students, including students from Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Sri Lanka and countries on the African continent, officials said.
According to him, nearly 75 international students live in the A Block hostel of the university where the incident occurred.
